While he initially comes off as blunt and harsh, Olruggio is a genuinely kind and caring person. He looks after Qifrey and the students of the atelier, coming up with magical items to help them sleep and helping the students with their magic. He is shown to be dedicated to helping others, especially the common people, but is notoriously bad with deadlines and overworks himself. Even though he has a gruff way of speaking, his magic is often described as "warm".
His fragrance is inspired by fire magic in its coziest form. It is not a roaring flame, but the kind of fire you want to sit beside when the world outside is cold.
