He is protective of Zelda, willing to give his own life for her, and also often helps the everyday people he encounters . He is willing to defeat every monster and villain he encounters if it ensures he saves Hyrule, showing he puts the Kingdom before himself. He is implied to be somewhat sleepy or lazy since at the beginning of almost every game, he oversleeps, which is a running gag in the series.
